Many classrooms request not having valentines filled out for specific individuals, so this will help all of you who happen to be in that situation. **Updated 2/12/13 – After receiving a number of requests, I have created an additional version of the bookmarks that contain only a “from” field and no hole for punching at the top, in case you opt not to add a ribbon. If you wish to make the bookmarks more durable, consider laminating each after trimming them apart.
I love the idea of giving a gift that will encourage them to read! My son’s first grade classmates will be receiving these this year. Pull the knot gently to secure it (don’t pull too hard, or you might tear the bookmark), and then trim the ends of the ribbon at and angle with shears for a polished look. Fold the ribbon in half, and slip the folded end through the punched hole, from the front of the bookmark to the back.įorm a slipknot with the ribbon by pulling the loose tails of ribbon up through the looped end, as shown.
